Run Through the Jungle
Whoa, thought it was a nightmare,
Lord, it’s all so true.
They told me, “Don’t go walkin’ slow,
‘Cause Devil’s on the loose.”
Better run through the jungle (…)
Finally, I spend few days away from a noisy city, away from the office, away from crowds and away from busy streets. Oh yes, nature, countryside, lakes and forests. I took a camera with me few days ago for a short walk around in the forest and I took this picture. At first (before editing in Aperture), it was just a random and regular picture of the forest, but after some editing in Aperture, it became a mysterious forest, something you can see in a horror movie.
New Lens: Nikkor 35mm f/1.8
I just want to put here a little update about my photography equipment. I bought a new lens few days ago: Nikkor 35mm f/1.8. You can read more about the lens on Nikon’s website. I had time to take only few test shots with this new lens but I can already say it is worth the money I paid for it. It delivers clear and crisp image with great aperture and the lens is very bright (requires little light with large f-stops).
Welcome to Poland!
I think I did 6 km. today in 2 hours just walking and taking pictures in Gdansk (Poland). Ok, maybe not only taking pictures because I had to arrange few things, but anyway!
Tattoo Shop Music Video
I arrived to Poland this afternoon (well, depends when you read it so: Saturday, July 18, 2009) and I was welcomed by a huge storm, intensive rain and thunders. That was a drastic change of weather in comparison to what I left behind in the Netherlands and in Germany.
Next Stop: Gdansk (Poland)
I find less and less time everyday on things I would like to do (like updating my photo-folio). However, I like to keep myself busy and I’ve been busy thinking for the past couple of days what photography equipment should I take with me to Poland (for those of you who don’t know: I leave there on Saturday for 3 weeks). Overall, I don’t have too much equipment but when you travel by plane, every thing you put in your suitcase has to be well thought before it actually makes to the suitcase.
Holidays! Oh..wait…
Ah! Summertime… time to relax…time for holidays! Unfortunately not for me this year. Because of some personal issues and organizational matters, I’m unable to go on holidays. Even my short (3 week) trip to Poland, which starts the coming Saturday, will be more about work and organizing ‘stuff’ than holidays. After all, who visits a family for holidays, right?
I have few plans to shoot some pictures while visiting Poland but unfortunately other duties will have the priority this time.
From the Attic: Sun, cool breeze and a cup of coffee
Sometimes all you need for full happiness is a sunny Saturday morning with cool breeze, a cup of coffee and birds singing – today was such morning for me. I don’t know why but for some reason it brought me much happiness. It also reminded me (for some reason which I don’t quite understand) my childhood in Poland (for those of you who don’t know: I left my home country when I was 17 and ever since I try to find my new home). Yes…the years of childhood are the best for everyone I guess; these are the times when your only concern or problem is to find new ways how to piss of your parents, how to sneak out with friends to have a beer (even though all of you are underage) or to come up with a new excuse for a teacher why you didn’t do you homework (sick? no! done too many times…. death of a member of a family?…no, already ‘killed’ everyone, etc).

From the Attic: Belgian Countryside and my new photography motto
I think this photography portfolio will soon turn out as a combination of a portfolio and a blog, Why? Well, I have found much more pictures ‘from the attic’ (taken with my old camera(s)) and I really have nothing special to write about them. Sometimes there is no story to tell about a picture, maybe because pictures should tell stories themselves.
I have come up with my new photography motto or saying: “I don’t take pictures. I just try to capture the past”
